Children's 19th Century Scientific Literature

James Johonnot
(1823-1888)

Johonnot was an educator, born in Bethel Vermont. He completed his education in 1848, and until 1866 he was in charge of the schools in Joliet, Illinois, and was president of the State normal school at Warrensburg, Missouri. He was a member of the institute faculty of the New York State for many years. He is the author of “Principles and Practice of Teaching” (1878) A Geographical Reader (1882), and Glimpses of the Animate World (1883).
