This book is an edited and abridged version of Jean Bauhin's 1650-51 three volume Historia Plantarum Universalis. Chabrey used the same images as those in Bauhin, but wrote significantly shorter descriptions of the plants. Now verified as having been owned and inscribed by Rousseau, this volume has been in the Lloyd Library collection at least since 1893, when it was entered into the handwritten library catalog compiled by Curtis Gates Lloyd.
