Druery, a Pteridolegist (or fern specialist), was elected a Fellow of the Linnean Society in 1880 and was one of the first 60 receipients, in 1897, of the Victoria Medal of Honour given to British horticulturists deemed worthy by the Royal Horticultural Society.
