Vesalius Trust Collection of Art in the Service of Science - Mary Maciel Art Collection

tracheo-esophogeal fistula by Mary MacielThe Maciel collection came to the Lloyd Library and Museum through the Vesalius Trust Collection of Art in the Service of Science as a donation by Jan Warren in 2011. Mary Maciel was Professor of Medical Illustration and Director of the School of Medical Illustration at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. She essentially established the school at UC and was the driving force behind it for some 25 years, making it one of the most well-known programs of its kind up through the 1980s.
